Cat-Nappers and Conference

I’ve got a good friend who’s out of town and whose two cats I’ve agreed to watch for a while. I’ve always wanted to have cat(s), but I’ve been trepidatious at the prospect of being responsible for keeping another organism alive. So this has been a good trial run. This post will be littered with cat shots; remember growing up how many shots I took of Lexi? It’s awakened again.

Cleo on the left, and his sister Tessa on the right. For all they knew we were burgling them like Edgar in Aristocats. They don’t generally take to car travel very well, and one of them vomited on my coat sleeve just a minute or so from home.
Given their reported propensity to vomit, I was paranoid about the furniture.
Tessa was curious, while Cleo had to be persuaded with a broom stick to get out from under my car and into the house.
Obviously not taking to his new temporary owner very well.
Tessa on the other hand made herself right at home.

In preparation for conference we made snickerdoodle cookies. However I found myself without a baking sheet. The cupcake tin came in handy, and produced a very nice shape.

With company coming over for conference I bit the bullet and unrolled the carpet again.

Tessa made herself the center of attention.
…while her brother sulked behind the washing machine.

After-conference games.

The next evening was FHE at our bishop’s place, where we had a discussion on the messages delivered at Conference, with games afterwards.

More cat pics.

Morning scritches.

Cleo warming up a teensy bit.

I got a haircut!

My frown was just the gravity of all that hair hanging off my face.

Just in time for Dad to come to town.

Stopping by to see the Ballard Locks.
Lime bikes are a terribly fun way to get around.
Dessert at Google in Fremont.
Lived here two years and never went to the Fremont Troll.

Mighty fine brats.

So I’ve elected to get Lasik later this month – next week in fact. Went in to get my eyes dilated and checked.

Fashion of the future.
Cleo’s really warmed up.

Super foggy morning.
I’m sure they’d love to hang outdoors, but I don’t want to have to make some outrageous story up about how they ran away to join the circus or whatever.
Tessa chillaxing during Star Wars.
Random bun at work.

Last night was Elders Quorum game night at my place.

Think the Tanks game on Wii Play, but the nifty thing here is that you can put two switches together and help them detect how they’re oriented, to make a larger more convoluted map. Such innovation, much fun.

So yeah, you’re supposed to remove the paper backing from frozen pizzas before putting them in the oven.
The top of the pizzas was delicious though. And that fantastic concoction in the background is baked cookie dough with oreos in the middle.
Another fine round of bratwursts.

Went on a bike ride this morning with Mary, and the fall colors were fantastic. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to fully enjoy them, thanks to 18-year-old me. Just had to get those Transition glasses before heading out on your mission, didn’t you. Never even wore them in the field either. Now that I’m out of contacts in preparation for Lasik, I get to wear those glasses and enjoy looking like someone trying too hard to be cool. Ah well.

Ciao!
